Dixons To Stop Selling Film Cameras

UK high street retailer has announced that it plans to stop selling film based cameras at its high street stores. Dixons reported that its' sales of digital cameras have surpassed the sales of 35mm cameras by a factor 15 to 1. The company sees film as a 'niche market' in the words of one of their directors "digital cameras are now the rule, rather than the exception".

I think this is quite sad, really. I've always loved film cameras - my dream is to one day have a dark room of my own. Technology can be wonderful - but not when it literally kills another art form.

Quite Right, I think that for film lovers this will mean a return to the Craft of Photography. The one thing about Digital is that it can be easier on the environment when used properly and sensibly.
